Guangdong’s Garment Industrial Clusters Expand Globally; “Chuan Yue Fashion Apparel Fair” Empowers Chinese Brands to Seize Global Markets

On January 12, 2026, the Chuan Yue Fashion Apparel Fair (Guangzhou Special Session for Textile & Garment Industry) grandly opened in Panyu, Guangzhou. Hosted by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province and co-organized by the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Guangzhou and the Guangdong Garment & Apparel Association, the event gathered representatives from over 200 Guangdong garment enterprises as well as major platforms including Alibaba, Douyin and Vipshop. Centering on empowering traditional industries with new technologies, crafts, materials and equipment, it built an efficient platform for government-enterprise collaboration, resource matching and brand globalization, helping garment brands from Guangdong and across China explore the global market.

As China’s top province in the garment industry, Guangdong is home to more than 2,500 above-scale garment enterprises, accounting for 18% of the national total and ranking first nationwide. It takes a leading position in women’s wear, lingerie, loungewear, denim, children’s wear and other categories. Boasting multiple industrial clusters in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan and other cities, Guangdong has formed a complete industrial ecosystem covering design, R&D, fabrics, production, supply chain and branding, with solid industrial foundations and strong export competitiveness. In 2025, Guangdong’s garment exports exceeded 80 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 12%, making up 25% of China’s total garment exports and establishing itself as a core force for China’s garment exports.

With the theme “Guangdong Products Go Global, Fashion Shines Worldwide”, the fair rolled out three key initiatives. First, expand sales channels through government-enterprise cooperation. Special matchmaking events were held together with cross-border e-commerce platforms, overseas distributors and international buyers to realize precise supply-demand docking. Second, enhance industrial strength via innovation in four major fields. The event promoted AI design, digital intelligent manufacturing, eco-friendly fabrics and smart equipment to raise product added value and international competitiveness. Third, build brand image. It showcased Guangdong’s original designs, national trend culture and intangible cultural heritage crafts to foster the brand identity of Cantonese Fashion.

At the event, Guangdong enterprises presented hit products such as Chinese-style women’s clothing, functional lingerie, eco-friendly denim and smart children’s wear, drawing wide attention from global buyers. An original women’s wear brand from Guangzhou secured distribution deals with partners from five European countries on the strength of its collections integrating oriental aesthetics, modern tailoring and sustainable fabrics, with on-site orders worth over 20 million RMB. Smart temperature-control lingerie launched by a Foshan-based lingerie enterprise also received bulk orders from buyers in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

In terms of policy support, Guangdong will continue to introduce favorable measures including optimized export tax rebates, cross-border logistics subsidies, incentives for brand globalization and grants for international exhibitions to fully support garment enterprises going global. Moving forward, the Chuan Yue Fashion Apparel Fair will be held in major industrial clusters across China and host overseas sessions, driving China’s garment industry to upgrade from mere product export to brand and cultural export.

Industry insiders commented that the global expansion of Guangdong’s garment industrial clusters epitomizes the high-quality development of China’s garment sector. Leveraging a complete industrial chain, robust manufacturing capacity, independent design strength and favorable policies, Chinese garment brands are accelerating the transformation from OEM manufacturing to independent branding, with growing market share and influence across the globe.
