Heimtextil 2025, the world’s largest trade fair for home and contract textiles, successfully wrapped up its four-day exhibition at Frankfurt Messe. All 16 exhibition halls were fully occupied, showcasing more than 3,000 overseas exhibitors from across the globe. For the first time, Milanese design studio Alcova Milano curated the exclusive Trend Arena trend pavilion, centering on three core sustainable material themes: recycled, natural and bio-based textiles.
Highlights on display included organic linen, CiCLO biodegradable polyester, seaweed fibre home textiles and AI generative pattern fabrics. Orders for home textiles crafted from recycled fibres surged by 82% year-on-year, with mass long-term contracts signed by hotel groups and home furnishing retailers from Europe and North America.
Adjacent to the Trend Arena, the Retail Stage featured a dedicated AI home textile design zone. Live on-site demonstrations showcased one-click AI soft furnishing pattern generation, digital virtual sampling and intelligent colour matching systems. Industry research released at the show projected the global AI textile market will reach USD 21 billion by 2033.
Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, commented on the fair’s performance: “Heimtextil 2025 delivered outstanding results with visitors up 10% year on year. Sustainability and digital design have shifted from optional trends to core purchasing criteria for international buyers. The Trend Arena and AI Retail Stage perfectly reflect the dual transformation of the home textile industry toward circularity and digitalisation.”
